Dakine Bike Bag Review: Easy, Light, Affordable

Dakine bike bag

Are you ready to experience a new adventure to New Zealand, BC or your favorite destination? This bag makes it simple to enjoy your mountain bike anywhere your adventure may take you without hassle.

The Dakine bike bag enables the easiest, quickest pack I have experienced.  Just remove both wheels, pedals, detach stem (with bars) and drop post.  That’s it and can easily be carefully packed in less than 10 minutes.  I’ve packed my bike numerous times beside others struggling to pack/unpack their bike while they nearly completely disassemble their bike and can’t remember how to orient things so their bike fits in the bag.  Dakine makes it simple with separate inner bags to cover, protect and pack everything into.

The nearly equally important features to the ease of use are its weight and the fact that the bag rolls up for storage.  These are two very important details especially if you are traveling internationally.  Why?  Many airlines have a 50 lbs max without receiving an overweight charge.  This bag weighs in around 18 lbs.  This leaves room for most trail bikes a pair of shoes, helmet with most bikes if they are under 30 lbs.

One of our favorite features is the ability to roll up the bag for storage.

Why is the roll up feature nice?  The bag rolls up and is secured with an included strap that minimizes the real-estate needed when traveling.  For us, there is NO way we would have used a rental car during our New Zealand trip this past winter and had room for anything else in our car.

Retail Price $375

Additional packing notes:  I use plastic end cap/brake rotor covers on my hubs (your bike shop should have these to give you).  I also cover the main tubes with pipe insulation and remove the derailleur hanger to prevent hanger damage.

Disclaimer:  This bag was not given to us for a review.  We bought a couple of these bags after some careful research and what we found while using these for the past year exceeded our expectations enough that we felt compelled to share our experience.[/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container]
