Our favorite wheel manufacturer just announced some phat new additions to the family to satisfy the needs of the wider sized riders.
For the fat riders there are two new tubeless offerings with the new BigRig845 (84.5mm internal width) carbon and BigRig975 (97.5mm internal width) carbon wheelsets. The BR975 come in at crazy scant 1890 grams. Ho lee chit! These are both of course built with Industry Nine’s proven Torch hubs and spokes in your favorite colors of choice. Both of these wheelsets are available NOW.
Also, for the fat bikers (jeez, they get all the cool new stuff for Christmas), there is a new alloy version of the BigRig845. The complete wheelset comes in at 2530 grams and will be available later this month.
For the Plus sized rider the BackCountry450 will be available next month (Dec 2015) in both 29″ and 27.5″ versions. This rim was built to accommodate tires ranging between 2.8″ and 3.5″. Wheelsets will have hubs available in standard mountain bike in addition to boost and fat bike widths.
And for the normal riders Industry Nine has some great new improvements to their Trail wheelset we tested early this year (Industry Nine Trail Review). In short, we loved them and felt that they offered an incredible ratio of weight to cost along with sexy good looks, bomb proof reliability and nearly instantaneous 3 degree freehub engagement!
The Trail wheelset, now the Trail245 is 24.5mm internally (1mm wider than previous). In addition to the increased width, the rim is 1mm wider on both sides of the bead seat and the .5mm shorter bead wall for improved burp resistance at lower air pressures. Impact resistance has also been improved with a thicker bead and downfall construction. Weights range from 1480g to 1660g depending on wheel size and spoke/hub configuration and are also available NOW.
