2018 Pearl Izumi Shoes

Interbike 2017: Thule, Pearl Izumi, Bolle

The 2017 Interbike tradeshow had a different vibe than previous years.  It may be a result of the recently announced new venue of Reno, NV for 2018.  It could also be a result of the industry changing and the e-bikes pushing into the picture.   For us, it was mostly the same yet with noticeably fewer attendees and mountain bike companies that only make bikes you have to pedal.

Highlights from Thule, Pearl Izumi and Bolle:

Thule has been busy expanding into the bag market.  We’ve been using backpacks from Thule for the last year and have been very happy with both their design and functionality.   The company is now moving forward with a hydration line. This Vital 6 looks both comfy, light and very well designed.

Thule Hydration Pack
The back and shoulder strap ventilation along with lightweight fabric give you the impression that someone at Thule has been listening to common hydration complaints.

Thule E- Bike Rack
Although this is probably needed for the heavy e-bikes, we got a chuckle out of the added ramp for wheeling your e-bike up. :)

Pearl Izumi Shoes
The Pearl Izumi SPD compatable X-Alp Launch and X-Alp Elevate are looking great for those who prefer shoes they can hike-a-bike with safely.

2017 Pearl Izumi Shoes
Look ma, someone designed a flat pedal shoe that doesn’t absorb 3 times its weight in water and take 3 days to dry out. The Pearl Izumi X- Alp Launch looks to bring some modern performance to the flat pedal world.  Synthetic seamless breathable upper and Vibram sole almost tempt us to try some flat pedal riding.

Bolle Trackdown Helmet
The new Bolle Trackdown with MIPS and a reported very reasonable price tag (less than $140)  is an item we’re excited about.

With all the talk about e-bikes its nice to see product development in other areas continuing to advance.  We’ll do our best to get our hands on the above product for hands-on testing as its available.  Stay tuned for the last instalment from Interbike 2017.
