2015 Lady Shred Gift Guide

Alright GUYS listen up!  We don’t want a cheezy diamond ring, a fur coat or perfume for the holidays this year.  The Bath and Body Works smelly lotion and sexy underpants that you get at Victoria Secret are out too!  That shit either makes me sneeze or is so uncomfortable!  Wires and lace?  Come on, we all know who that is for, so why don’t you just buy that for yourself.

Here’s what we really want!  Comfortable and cool clothes and accessories that we can shred the trails with and look great doing it.  All women may not admit it, but we really do like looking GOOD.  I don’t mean makeup and hairspray with high heels, good.  I mean cute shorts that fit good, with cool socks and maybe matching gloves good.  We don’t want to ride your hand-me-down helmet or wear last years race shirt.  We don’t want everything to be too matchy or too pink.  We don’t want to look like everyone else out there.  We want to stand out.  We want to be comfortable, but look good, not too baggy and not too tight.

Seems easy enough, right?

Yeah, problem is there are so many options out there now that us ladies have started to spend a little money in the bike industry.  Companies are really starting to cater to us, offering us gals more and more options to look so good on and off the bike.

The other problem is that no two women are the same with regard to style or fashion.  Then there are all the different colors, styles and the SIZES!!! Oh wow!  You guys are screwed.

Great Ideas for Shredding Ladies on Your List:

  • Helmet-  With visor please and  great coverage in the back.
  • Gloves-  Long fingered for sure!
  • Pads-  Comfortable coverage that aren’t too bulky and stay put.
  • Glasses-  Photochromatic for changing light conditions, good style, mirrored lenses look great in selfies.
  • Shorts-  Baggy, but not too baggy, great pockets, not too long or short- don’t want a goober gap between the bottom of the short and the top of out pads. Great liner shorts with decent chamois is a must so we can ride all day without chaffing.
  • Shirt-  Baggy, but not too baggy, long enough in the back, zipper for ventilation and made from nice soft fabric.
  • Base Layer-  Form fitting and stretchy, not itchy, with thumb holes.
  • Shoes-  Well fitting shoes with great soles that stick to the rocks and roots if a quick dismount is in order, stiffness to transfer all the power to the pedals- waste not want not.
  • GPS –  To document all of the awesome riding we do, has to look good and be functional with automatic uploads because who has time for all of that?!
  • Phat Carbon Rims- we’re worth it :}
  • Dropper Seatpost- so we can drop it like it’s hot!

Extra Credit Gifts:

  • Cool hair ties, so we can pony and braid!
  • Stylish ball cap or beanie to cover the helmet head apres-ride, cool and different than our friends please.
  • Great pack or duffel to keep all our gear in (so we don’t forget anything and have to ride in our tennis shoes if we have to  drive to a ride.)
  • Favorite lip balm because they always seem to make it into the washing machine, so we need a few!
  • New hydration pack stuffed with our favorite treats and goodies
  • A coach or skills camp so we can continue to progress our skills and fitness and continue to shred hard.  Check out www.potentialenergytraining.com and www.ladiesallride.com to grab some gift certificates online!!!

How about you support your local bike shop, get down there or better yet, bite the bullet and go shopping together and while you’re at it, take her to lunch.  You can always get her a gift card to her local shop so she can pick her own stuff out and you’re off the hook.  Be sure to check out the Weird Holiday gift guide and Mountain Bikers 2015 Gift Guide too.
