What would be a better way to experience a great weekend with awesome people (mountain bikers) while checking out all the new 2015 mountain bikes on the incredible trails of Moab! Outerbike does it again. Yet there is much more to Outerbike than just bike and gear demos.
Riders flock from all over for this event. I met many from Canada, the midwest and east coast seeking sun and sand and the awesome riding Moab is known for. The thing I really like about Moab is that riders and hikers largely remain separate. This is especially important at this very busy time of year in Moab. The hikers go into the national parks and do their thing uninterrupted by mountain bikers while the other trails are left wide open to mountain bikes.
The Outerbike venue is incredible. The views of the towering La Sal mountain in the background are breathtaking with a sea of the latest mountain bike gear at our fingertips. Multiple laps for riding leave directly from the lot, as do the shuttles to many of the epic trails nearby. The lunch and beer garden are not to be missed. During our two trips to Outerbike it seems that Friday is definitely the day to ride the popular bikes as the crowds are much less and the hot bikes therefore are easier to come by.

We took this time to confirm some of our thoughts on some of our favorite bikes from IBIS, Yeti, Pivot, and Rocky Mountain. Some of the larger vendors that are normally at the fall event were missing, but this gave us more of an opportunity to discover other brands. Durango Bicycle Company is one that comes to mind first. It was exciting to learn the backstory on the brand from the owners that were at the booth and the details of a bike that we are excited to spend more time on!
Outerbike’s next event will take place in the other riding mecca. Yep, Whistler. We hope to make it to this event as Whistler offers a great opportunity to try bikes in a completely different setting.
