6 days of riding with nearly 150 miles and over 27,000 vertical feet of climbing is done! I am tired, but still looking forward to exploring some new trails in Revelstoke today. New friends were made, lots of exciting new places were seen and finishing in Golden, BC was a fantastic way to wrap up one great week in BC.

Our last two Golden days of the fabulous Transrockies Singletack 6 event were my personal favorites of the week followed closely by Fernie. Golden climbs were more mellow with grades that didn’t have me wishing for a 50 tooth chainring, yet the trails and VIEWS were incredible. My only regret is that I didn’t stop long enough to enjoy some of the magnificent trailside vista’s. Good thing someone else did…

The people we met before, during and after the day on the bike become closer and like old friends by the end of a hard week of racing. The best bonding occurs over refreshments at the post-event celebration. We were busy exchanging numbers and social media contacts before passing out after Stage 7 at the local watering hole. Much like other multi day races we’ve done previously, the contacts made have become friends to expand the adventures of the future.
The places that we have the opportunity to see while racing come a close second to the people we’ve met. Singletrack 6 delivered in spades the sights of exploring that motivate us nearly us much as riding itself. Next year’s event is one not to miss either, taking on a completely different personality in 2 new locations with some of the most highly regarded trails in BC. Rossland and Nelson are the two host cites for 2017 events. Fortunately, we had the opportunity to ride in both this summer, and can definitely say they are truly epic locations that will make the 2017 event very special!
